10 years ago, Caine Gayle was one of the World’s Top Ranked Street Skateboarder. Skating was his passion. He dreamed of being a professional skateboarder since he started in grade school. That dream was soon accomplished. Winning and placing top three in numerous competitions, not to mention medaling in the infamous X-games, having his own shoe named after him, television appearances (MTV’s ‘MADE’ series), commercials and gracing the covers of numerous magazines, he still felt he had a lot to learn. During this chapter in his life, he came across a new passion, Muay Thai.
He had met Melchor Menor in 1997 ,who, at the time, was the WKA and WMTF world champion. Melchor had taken Caine under his wing and trained him extensively in the art of Muay Thai. He has also trained in Thailand for weeks at a time in 2000 and 2004. Through several years of dedication and loyalty to the sport, Caine had earned his title Kru in the summer of 2007, being certified as a muay thai teacher and trainer through Melchor Menor. Experiencing competition, training and true passion for Muay Thai, Caine knew it was something he had to share with others. That’s when he knew that achieving Kru Caine would be equivalent to holding a belt, or trophy, or medal. There’s simply nothing that compares. To be able to teach someone, something your so passionate about is the greatest reward bar none.
